Beacon Hill U14s 3 - 3 Witham U14s
With 5 players away, Zac Lakin stepped up from the U13s. We felt we'd have more than enough for Witham but that wasn't quite the case. Having failed to pick up a point in the league so far, Witham gave everything. They fought for every ball and made the game a battle.
Despite Beacon dominating the early exchanges, we were taking a lackadaisical approach all over the pitch. A poor touch from Josh was punished by their striker and we were behind. Shortly after, Witham made it two. Their desire to win the ball and chase everything was rewarded again. Stunned, this kicked Beacon into life. Two goals for Albert Gillespie ensured we went in at half-time level.
However, the second half carried on in a similar vein. We were dominating, playing some nice football but missing chances. Witham still wanted it more though, forcing Josh into a couple of good saves and a goal-line clearance from Will.
Finally, with 10 to go, Witham's perseverance was rewarded. A cross from the left wasn't dealt with and a low finish meant once again we were behind.
This time, it was us with the greater desire. Wave after wave of attack followed. Luco Webb then curled the ball into the far corner to level it up again and ensure a grand stand finish. Unfortunately, a mixture of good goalkeeper and poor choices meant the game ended level.
