Beacon Hill Rovers Reserves 1 - 0 Felsted Rovers First
A great day for the club as the the majority of the reserve team was filled with u20-year-olds. To cap it all off, a first Senior BHR career goal by Luke Hayes too - a 20-yard screamer into the top corner for the winner!

Resilient Rovers deny Orient a place in the sun

WF Reserve team's last fixture of the season. Leyton Orient had to win in order to claim the League title. But, mid-table Beacon were not to be rolled over and a fully deserved 0-0 draw ruined the Orient party.

Braintree 2 - 6 Beacon Hill U17s
Played away on the rain-swept plains of Braintree and after requesting we play from the 1st minute not the 10th we conceded within 20 seconds.
We woke up around the 20-minute mark and won 6-2. A decent hard-working performance in rank conditions.

Maldon and Tiptree 4 - 4 Beacon Hill U15s
Crazy game ?

In the monsoon-like conditions we flew out the traps to take an early 2 - 0 lead, Fin with another long ranger and Callum’s through ball was tucked home by Fin once again. Our struggles to defend corners cost us again for M and T’s first. After the break a nice slipped pass (was it Zach or Ethan???) was pounced on by Fin and he completed another hat trick, unfortunately, an unconvincing penalty decision was given against and it gave them a foothold back into the match, Jake was unable to save this one for once!!! An old friend who was playing well in Josh then scored a quick-fire brace to leave us struggling at 4-3 down, but amazingly straight from the restart a long ball forward found Fin yet again and he rescued a point that we maybe didn’t deserve today.

Beacon Hill U13s 1 -2 Great Danes
The U13s slipped to a second successive defeat. Despite dominating for large spells, 2 lapses in concentration and a lack of composure in front of goals cost the boys. A fine strike from Ben Large was all they got from the game.

Hutton Sharks U13 Girls 1 - 1 Beacon Hill Rovers U12
Beacon Hill U12s continued their unbeaten run in the league against what was arguably the strongest opposition they had faced to date.

This game turned out to epitomise the saying, “Twas a game of Two Halves”.

Beacon definitely started the brighter with the whole team playing very confidently from back to the front. Some great passages of play lead to Rovers finding openings down both flanks through Miller Teasel on the right and Toby Pass on the left.

Chances came and went during Beacon's sustained pressure in the first half without the cutting edge. Frustration grew with the regular offside flag, but with 10 minutes left of the first period Beacon broke again down the left.

An interchange of passing from C McBride, Pass and Wraight down the wing enabled Bobby Pike to shift the ball out of his feet and strike perfectly into the top right corner from the edge of the box.

Beacon was certainly commended by the home support for how well they were passing the ball around, but for all their efforts, no additions were made to the scoreline before the interval.
Numerous changes were made at half time with Hill trying to spruce things up with some fresh legs through their substitutions.

But the tides somewhat turned in the 2nd half, and it was Hutton who stamped their authority on the game.

Beacon struggled to get to grips with Hutton imposing their physicality on the game and all of a sudden it was Hutton who was in the ascendancy.

A shift in formation proved dividends for the girls especially down their right wing. Hutton was applying the pressure through a number of corners as well Beacon struggling to cope with the pace down the flanks.

Butcher who had come on at half time looked a threat down Beacon's right-hand side and was often an outlet for Beacon as they constantly cleared.
This said few chances were being created in the attacking half.
With 18 minutes remaining, Hutton got their deserved equaliser. Simmance in the Beacon goal was closed down and when his misplaced pass rebounded off of the Hutton striker, the ball only ended up travelling towards the Beacon goal for an easy tap-in from the same player.

This only seemed to spur Hutton on further, but it was at this point the game opened up a little and became more end-to-end with both teams hopeful for a winner.
Simmance was then called into action on numerous occasions towards the end of the game, having to make a number of saves. Late on Miller Teasel’s spilt shot on another day may have crept over the line, but on this occasion was cleared by a Hutton defender after the keeper had parried.
All in all, Hutton was worthy of their draw and honours even seemed the fair and correct result.
When interviewed after the game Coach Lakin praised the boys stating “It was a fantastic 1st half today…..probably the best half we have played all season”

It will be 1st v 2nd next weekend in what will definitely prove to be another entertaining one

BHR U7s 3 - 2 Tollesbury
The U7s returned to action this week with a friendly match away to local rivals Tollesbury who sit one division above Rovers.

After an even opening half which saw both Cooper, Cohen and Teddy hit the woodwork Tollesbury found the back of the net with a powerful finish from just inside the box. Rovers continued to push though and were rewarded when Teddy Souster cooly finished after being played in again by the hardworking Cooper McComish. It wasn’t long before Rovers finally took the lead in the match and it was a smart first-time finish from Cohen Patel which left the Tollesbury keeper with no chance. Credit to the Tollesbury players who never gave up and got their rewards with an equaliser from a tight angle to bring the game level once again. With time running out it was left to a lad who didn’t stop running all game and fully deserved his moment of glory… After some neat passing from Hunter Hawkridge, Teddy Souster and Finley Halfhide, the ball fell to Alex Bird who calmly controlled the ball and placed a shot into the far corner to seal the win for Rovers.

A great team performance allowed the lads to implement a lot of what we have been practising on the training pitch in a match situation.

Goals: Cohen Patel, Teddy Souster, Alex Bird
Player of the Week: Alex Bird
